My family’s interest in the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia started in 2009 when my youngest daughter (who was two years old at the time) received surgery there requiring an overnight stay for my wife and I. While there we saw so many sick children and their families struggling with their situations, some far outweighing our own.
Fast-forward a few years to Christmas time in 2013 and having some work done on my personal vehicle at a Corvette shop. It was then that I learned about a local toy drive for kids supporting the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House and had a chance to meet Denny Parisan for the first time.
After hearing about the toy drive and where the toys were going, it seemed like a natural fit for something that was already near and dear to our hearts. In the early summer of 2014 was when I took to the track at Maple Grove Raceway for the first time to lend more support to this great cause. My family has been a part of things ever since and it was truly our honor to become an official sponsor this year.
In the brief history of my family’s involvement, we have seen the great work done by Denny and the rest of the people that make up this wonderful organization. We have also had the opportunity to meet some of the actual families that they have helped along the way and can’t imagine not being a part of things in the future.
If there is any way to help this great cause, please take part and show your support. Whether by donation, at a dinner, a toy drive or on the track, these families and these kids need hope and someone to be their guardian angel.
